What this site is

GNS Domains ("the site") is a community-built interface to the Gwei Name Service, an immutable, ownerless set of smart contracts deployed on Ethereum. The site does not operate, control, or custody anything: every action you take is a transaction signed by your own wallet and executed by contracts we do not control.

No custody, no accounts

The site never holds your funds, keys, or names. Registration secrets for in-progress registrations are stored only in your own browser. You are solely responsible for your wallet, its keys, and the transactions you sign.

The protocol is not ours

Names, fees, expiry, subdomains and every other rule are enforced by the contracts themselves. We cannot reverse transactions, recover expired names, waive fees, or take a name from anyone. Fees paid to the protocol are burned by the contract and are unrecoverable by anyone, including us.

No warranties

The site is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that the site or the underlying contracts are error-free. Smart contracts carry inherent risk, including bugs, chain reorganizations, and total loss. Audits reduce risk; they do not eliminate it. Use the protocol at your own risk and never commit funds you cannot afford to lose.

Your conduct

You agree not to use the site to infringe the rights of others, including registering names to deceive or impersonate. Name availability is enforced by the contract on a first-come basis; the existence of a name on the protocol confers no trademark or other legal right.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site's contributors shall not be liable for any damages arising from use of the site or the underlying protocol, including loss of funds, names, or data.

Changes

We may update these terms by publishing a new version on this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
